FAQ

Ruff Ranch has no breed restrictions, but we do require a day of behavior evaluation before any dog weighing over 30lbs can board with us. This is to ensure the safety of all our guests and staff. We specialize in caring for social dogs in a social setting and do not have the facilities for standard boarding for non social dogs.
We serve the same food we feed our own dogs, Costco’s Kirkland Signature Super Premium Adult Dog Chicken, Rice & Vegetable Formula.
Typically, bookings can be made just a few days in advance, however during national holidays and any time school is out we recommend that owners book a month in advance to ensure availability. If your dog requires an evaluation, this must be scheduled prior to the board as well.
Guests are grouped according to age, size, and personality. Ruff Ranch management carefully evaluates each of our guests to group individuals with a pack that is fun and safe.
Just like at home, when the weather is over 95 degrees, below 32 degrees, or pouring rain dogs get limited time outside for their safety.
Just like kids at a summer camp or at school can get hurt sometimes, dogs playing together can get hurt too. Dogs use their mouths and paws to wrestle around with each other. Because of our wide play yards and our observant staff, injuries are rare. If an injury does occur, you (not Ruff Ranch) are responsible for medical expenses for your dog just as you would for your child.
Ruff Ranch staff will administer first aid to any minor incidents that can result from playing in the yard such as a torn nail, scratches on the skin, twisted shoulder, worn pads, or hot spots. We normally will not inform the owner of a mild injury until pick-up as to not worry owners during their vacation, wedding, or business trip. Staff will discuss any care administered to guests at pick-up. If you prefer to be notified of minor injury, please let us know beforehand.

In the case of a more serious injury or sickness such as a completely torn off nail needing antibiotics, a tear in the skin needing stitches, or continued/severe colitis, a Ruff Ranch manager will take your dog to the vet for treatment and owners will be notified to call payment into the vet and discuss further care of your dog. Ruff Ranch staff will continue to care for the injury with limited time outside and close observation.

Your pet will be as excited to see you as you are them. Limiting water and food for a little while after getting home can prevent an upset stomach. They may lay around the house for a few days. Dogs play hard at Ruff Ranch and they may have sore muscles from their stay.
Yes, all dogs are required to be on leash for the safety of your dog and others, especially in our parking lot. This helps us keep our greeting area running smoothly. Remember, not all dogs at Ruff Ranch know each other or play together even if they are social.
